In these wintery months, our excursion will take us inside the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady and the Old Brno Abbey, in the area linked with the beginnings and early history of the city.
Often described as a jewel of Gothic architecture in Moravia, founded by the feisty Queen Elizabeth Richenza, it first served as a Cistercian convent and later an Augustinian monastery, made famous by its scientist abbot Gregor Johann Mendel.
Guided tour of the gothic basilica, baroque library and art nouveau refectory.
