When & Where?
08 December 2024
This year, the Christmas tree tradition at náměstí Svobody celebrates 100 years. Join us for an easy walk in the forest to recall a story that began near Brno in 1919 to 1924, but its influence is seen before Christmas in many towns and villages of the Czech Republic to this day. Learn what do a Brno journalist, a winter walk, a baby, a Danish queen, war orphans and a large Christmas tree have in common. Enjoy some fresh air and friendly company endorphins, culminating with a cup of mulled wine.
We will venture out on Sunday 8 December, take a 10-minute ride by train from Brno to Bílovice nad Svitavou and then follow a marked trail through the forest to see all the sites linked with our story. After the initial short walk uphill, most of the hike will be going slightly downhill or on a flat surface. Nonetheless, you will need good outdoor shoes of course and perhaps a thermos with hot tea.
We will finish with a cup of mulled wine and yummy snacks for all of you at the terminus of tram no. 4.
We will meet in the hall of Brno Hlavní nádraží railway station at 11:45 and then take a train at 12:00 to Bílovice nad Svitavou. If you’d like to join us, register via the red button above.
We're now conducting research into the life of internationals in Brno, in order to improve the support the city offers you. The results also design and shape public policies with your needs in mind, and help push the future of the city in the right direction.
Please, share your experience living in Brnoregion in our questionnaire and be a part of changing things for the better.
