Family event: Día de muertos

The days are colder and darker, but this doesn’t mean everything has to be grey and gloomy! This year, we decided to focus our winter family event on a Mexican holiday which some of you may know, some not, but it can certainly provide for an interesting and colourful experience for kids as well as adults.

We’ll be hosted by the recently established Zona Iberoamericana, a centre of Latin-American culture in Brno, the programme is also supported by the Vicinis association for expat families.

You can look forward to

• fun workshops and crafts
• jolly themed facepainting
• Mexican food to try and buy
• cheerful Mexican music
• a surprise heartwarming experience at the end

The time schedule of various special parts of the programme is as follows:

• 16:00 Reading from a special Día de muertos children’s book by its author Laura
• 17:00 Mexican music and song performance
• 18:00 Mexican dancing presentation
• 19:00 A special surprise ending for everyone

As the Mexican tradition of this holiday goes, you can bring a photo of a deceased loved one from your family whom you wish to remember – it can be placed on the special event altar.
