General info

This guide tells you how to get from the nearest airport to Brno city centre.

Which airport to fly to?

There are very few flight connections that can bring you directly to the Brno Airport – regular flights are only available between Brno and London/Stansted and Milan/Bergamo. The closest large international airports are Vienna (VIE) and Prague (PRG). Bratislava Airport (BTS) is a good option for most of the low cost carrier flights within Europe. If you are flying to Brno from outside of Europe, this airport is not recommended because of low connectivity.

Can I enter another country than the CR with my visa?

EU citizens can travel freely across borders within the EU, of course.

Travellers with “C” visas can enter any Schengen country and travel to the Czech Republic on land.

Travellers with a “D” or “D/VR” visa should book a flight directly to the Czech Republic or fly to another Schengen country for transit and make sure they can prove their onward journey to the Czech Republic (e.g. train or bus tickets, or a connecting flight booking) and supporting documents to prove that the primary country of visit is the Czech Republic (such as acceptance letters from a university, a job contract or proof of family ties).

For more information check Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic |  Entry & Residence .
